George's beloved paternal grandfather, Tony "Papa" Myers was a fireman on the Southern Railroad. Decades later, George made his career on the NYC Transit "railroad". For thirty-four years, George worked first as a Conductor and retired as a Motorman. During his time with Transit, he encouraged, mentored and taught many people how to be successful. George Jr. and his brother Xyzeikami having followed George's example, currently enjoy long careers in Transit. Speaking of his father's career, “Zeke" says, "My Dad was a pioneer in leading others into careers in Transit!"

The couple took their children everywhere, playing different sports, picnicking with them and in later years gathering for Sunday dinners. George's great enjoyment was playing board games, especially his favorite, "Sorry.” Prior to his years with the Transit Authority, George worked in door to door sales, where he proved to be the company's top salesman. Given his easy, friendly good natured personality, he won people over, even learning some Yiddish phrases in his work with some customers.

For over 65 years, George Myers proved to be an exemplary man of quiet integrity and great generosity. In our grief, we reach for small measures of comfort, some laughter, and we share warm, loving memories as we realize how fortunate we were in having George's caring presence in our lives.
